The community is crucial to ensuring forest sustainability, demanding a unified approach that harmonizes a region's ecological, social, and economic functions.
In response to this need, Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) has implemented SIGAP, a community-centric strategy known as "Aksi Inspiratif Warga untuk Perubahan," which translates as "Comunity Inspiring for Change". SIGAP aims to engage the community in forest protection and conservation, highlighting the potential for a roots-driven approach to natural resource management.
SIGAP's primary goal is to enhance village governance, secure community access to and management of natural resources, and develop sustainable livelihood strategies for villagers.
