Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) is a non-profit organization which was established in Indonesia in 2014.

With the mission to protect lands and waters on which all life depends, YKAN provides innovative solutions for realizing harmony between people and nature, through effective management, non-confrontational approaches, and building collaborative partnerships with all stakeholders for a sustainable Indonesia.

We continue to collaborate with TNC in developing conservation programs, including by developing innovative conservation approaches, conducting scientific studies, and sharing lessons learned.

YKAN and partners are working together to support the Indonesian government in conserving and protecting nature, as well as creating innovations to support our conservation mission.

  • 6M ha

    of Marine Protected Area

  • 14 companies

    have joined the Fisheries Improvement Project

  • 500 ha of mangrove

    in three locations developed integration plan

  • 6 villages

    in Rote and Berau were supported in developing sustainable seaweed farming and mangrove ponds

  • 10.4 M ha

    of sustainaible forest management in East and North Kalimantan.

  • 150 villages

    in Kalimantan have adopted SIGAP approach

  • 200+

    have joined Green Growth Compact

  • 417 ha

    of high conservation value area in East Kalimantan which is allocated for oil palm plantation
